This comparison is for estate managers, developers and factory facility managers in Lagos, Ogun State and beyond who must pick a tank type before they ask for bids. FortevaWorks supplies and installs FRP/GRP sectional tanks, set out on our water storage systems service page, and has worked on more than 20 FRP/GRP tank installations for residential estates. For an existing steel or plastic tank, we set an FRP/GRP tank beside it or replace it.
When an FRP/GRP sectional tank fits
FRP stands for fibre-reinforced plastic and GRP for glass-reinforced plastic. A sectional tank is built from flat panels, 2m × 2m or 1m × 1m, that are delivered to site and bolted together. Our manufacturing partners are established manufacturers in China, South Korea and Malaysia.
A sectional tank fits when an estate or factory needs one shared supply:
- Capacity. Tanks start at 5,000 litres with no fixed maximum, in custom shapes where the site calls for one. On an estate, one sectional tank can replace a row of small plastic tanks.
- Outdoor sites. A tank standing in the open, on an estate plot in Lekki or a factory yard in Agbara, can take a UV-resistant coating.
- Growth. When the estate grows, panels are added to an existing FRP/GRP sectional tank, with the additional cost set after the site visit. A plastic or steel tank is not extended: an FRP/GRP tank goes beside it or replaces it.
Before handover, every tank is filled to full capacity and left standing for 24 hours. Every panel joint and bolt is then checked for leaks, and the tank is checked to be level on its base. That was the test on a 12,000-litre tank FortevaWorks worked on for a residential estate on Banana Island, Lagos, completed in June 2026.
Sizing a tank for an estate or factory
Work out the storage a site needs in three steps:
- Count the people served. Residents on an estate, staff on a factory site.
- Multiply by the litres each person uses per day. The Nigerian Water Supply and Sanitation Policy uses 120 litres per person per day as the planning value for urban supply.
- Multiply by the days of storage the site needs. We set this per site at the inspection, from how reliable the borehole, mains and power supply are.
On a factory site, add the water the process itself uses; we work out that figure with you at the inspection.
What to ask at the site inspection
The site inspection is free, and you receive a detailed quotation, with a technical drawing if you want one. Ask these questions while we are on site:
- How many days of storage does this site need? The answer comes from your borehole, mains and power supply.
- Cement base or metal stanchion, and who builds it? We can build it, or you can have it ready.
- Can the existing tank be extended instead? The additional cost is set after the visit.
- Does the tank need the UV-resistant coating? Ask for it if the tank will stand in the open.
- Can I see a sample panel? Sample panels are available during the bid, and the material in the quotation is the material we install.
What moves the cost of the job is the size of the project, the cost of materials and the location. For capacities, options and how a tank job runs, see the water storage systems service page.
